Summer is quickly winding down, but there’s still time to fit in one more weekend getaway before the school year starts. Here are some of our favorite places to escape to for a long weekend!

Resurrection Bay – If the skies are clear, this is one of the best places in Alaska for sea kayaking. It’s only a 2.5-hour drive from Anchorage, making it a quick getaway destination. If you don’t see enough wildlife outside, head to the Alaska SeaLife Center to see everything you missed.

Seward – If you are heading to Resurrection Bay, you should stay in Seward. It is a  quaint, scenic ocean town with a bustling, old harbor. If you are looking to boat or fish, this is one of your best options! Many companies offer boat and fishing tours.

Ketchikan – if you are looking for a change in geography head to Ketchikan. You’ll find yourself immersed in the deep within the Tongass National Forest, lush and misty with greenery. Known for steep hills and amazing hiking; the views will take your breath away. The art scene is booming here, so come prepared to buy new pieces for your home!

Girdwood – A short, hour or less drive from Anchorage, this ski town turns into a hiking and biking oasis during the summer months. This mountain town is the perfect weekend destination for those looking for outdoor adventure.
