Moving is a trying experience. There are many steps you can take to make moving a smoother, less trying experience. Preparation is key, and we have a few tips to help you be prepared.

Back an overnight bag – For your first night in your new home you will want to have an overnight bag. Think of it like a sleepover bag. You most likely won’t get to unpacking all the boxes in your homes within the first day or two of your move, so having a bag with all your necessities will come in handy those first few days.

Wrap valuables in clothing – You’ll save on bubble wrap. Do you have dishes, china, glasses, trinkets, etc. that need to be wrapped before packing? Consider wrapping and padding them with your dish towels, t-shirts, and other soft material items. You will save yourself money by not purchasing bubble wrap and save yourself boxes because those items need to be packed anyways!

Label Boxes Precisely – As you are packing up your house label each box with what it contains and where you expect it to go in your new home. This will expedite the unpacking process.

Pre-clean before you unpack – If you have the opportunity, give your new home a good wipe down before you start to unpack. It is easiest to clean when it is empty.

Save on Boxes – Use suitcases, laundry hampers, backpacks, everything you can think of for packing for you move. This will save you money on boxes and save you time taking them to be recycled.
