For the mountain loving, city working person! Eagle River is only a 15-minute drive away from Alaska but at the gateway to the mountains. If you are moving to Eagle River there are plenty of things to do indoors and out to keep you happy all year.

Nancy Lake Recreation Center – Great for hiking, picnics, fishing, and canoeing. Grab your friends and the proper gear and head to the Lakes for the day.

Mat-Su Visitors Center – With beautiful views of Pioneer Peak, you can get all the information you need on hiking around the area. It also has hands-on activities for kids.

Wasilla Creek Wetlands Trails – A wonderful, secluded park with easy walking trails great for young kids!

Bearpaw River Brewing – A great assortment of beer conveniently located off main Parks Highway near Hatcher’s Pass. Once you’ve finished your outdoor activities, head indoors for a refreshing drink!

Extreme Fun Center – Cart racing, laser tag, and arcade games. A kid’s paradise on bad weather days! Adults will have fun too channeling their inner kid and competitive nature!

Kaladi Brothers Coffee – If you’re looking for a new local favorite coffee shop step into Kaladi Brothers Coffee. It’s a wonderful atmosphere and very kid friendly!

Iditarod Headquarters – If you want to learn more about the famous Alaskan race or anything sled dog related this is your spot. Educational and full of history.
