March 1, 2018 |
Spring is creeping on us sooner than you’d think! Before we know it, the snow will be gone, the days will be long, and the weather will be very bearable. It’s time to get your home ready for the warmer weather with these 5 home maintenance tasks.
1.Check Your Gutters – Once the snow melts you’ll need to check your gutters for any blockage or leaks. The heavy snow can cause strain on the gutters and the snow covers any leftover
leaves from the fall. If your gutter has leaks or blockage, that can lead to improper drainage which can damage the outside of your home directly below the leaks.
2.Check Outside Facets – It’s important and also easy to check facets for freeze damage. Turn the water on and place your finger over the opening. If you can stop the flow of water
due to the gentle flow, it is likely the pipe inside the home is damaged and will need to be replaced.
3.Check Power Equipment – Check your lawnmower, leaf blower, and snow blower this time of year. It’s important you check your snow blower before storing it away so you next winter
you know it will be ready for use. Have your lawnmower and leaf blower ready to go by cleaning and sharpening blades as necessary.
4.Move Firewood – Have firewood ready for spring and summer BBQs. Make sure you store wood at least two feet from the structure of your home to avoid a fire hazard.
5.Check and Change Outdoor Lights – Now is a good time of the year to check all of your outdoor lightbulbs. Replace any burnt-out or dim bulbs so your home will be shining bright all
