Holiday Hosting Advice

Holidays season has sprung upon us and it seems like there’s events planned every weekend. Entertaining for the holidays doesn’t have to be stressful, in fact it should be enjoyable because you are able to spend time with the ones you care about most. Take our advice on how to be a stellar host this holiday season.

Clean – Save yourself time hours before your guests arrive by pre-cleaning your house for the holidays. Give it a good scrub down and decluttering session now so when your party day arrives you have very little to do in the cleaning department.

Decorate – Nothing puts people in the holiday spirit like walking into a decorated house. Whether it’s for Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas or whatever holiday you are celebrating, add decorations to the exterior and interior of your home to get in the spirit of the holidays.

Create Fun for All – Both kids and adults want to have a good time at holiday get togethers. An easy way to ensure all ages enjoy themselves is to come up with games for kids and adults. You can organize a scavenger hunt for kids or have board games out and ready for them to play with. For adults, you can create a trivia game. Get creative, most games require little effort on your part to provide!

Relax and Enjoy – Yes, it is a big responsibility to host guests for the holidays but it’s important to remind yourself people are coming to your house to enjoy themselves, so you should enjoy yourself too! Guests (especially if they are close family and friends) won’t care about how your table decorations look, how much your wine glasses are sparkling, or that you bought a cake from a store. Remind yourself that everyone is there to spend time together and at the end of the day all you need to make that happen its to be present. Don’t let the stress of hosting ruin your time spent with guests.
