Fall Fitness Fun Around Anchorage
October 5, 2018 | Barb Huntley
The outdoorsy people of Alaska do a great job of putting on outdoor fitness events all year round and fall is a wonderful time of the year to get outside and be active. Fitness isn’t as hard when you have organizations putting on fun, active events. We suggest you try one of these out!

Weekly Evening Hike – Hosted by Alaska Outdoors, the members get together for weekly hikes on Monday and Thursday evenings. These social hikers hit the trails year-round, with a different route each time and with locals leading the way.
Monday hikes are easier, and follow wide, flat established trails of between 3.5 and 4.5 miles, perfect for beginners and families with kids. Thursday hikes are moderate difficulty. No advance registration required, just meet at the trailhead. Hike starts at 6:35 p.m. sharp! $1 donation for non-members. Membership $20.

Bonny Sosa Tuesday Night Race Series - A fall family tradition. These fun runs are like no other in Anchorage. Rain, snow, sleet, hail or wind, weather permitting these races are rarely cancelled. Whether you are a competitive runner or just want to get out and see a new trail or meet new friends, this is the event for you. Three separate race courses are set each week at a different location around town, including the
kids, recreation and competitive divisions. The kids and recreational courses tend to stay on well-used trails, but the competitive courses have wild curves, occasionally following streams, game trails or other surprises. Register online or on race day on site from 5:30 - 6:15 p.m.
