Less Competition
The most popular time of the year to buy a new home has come and past. Now, we are in the season where home buying slows. With the holidays and the start of the New Year this is a busy time for many people and home buying and moving don’t always fit into their schedules. If you have the time and energy, buying in the winter is to your advantage because you will have less competition on the homes you are looking at. Less competition means your offer will hopefully be accepted at your asking price.

Lower Prices
Lower demand for houses can mean that the prices are also lower. Sellers might not have many offers, and will have to make sure their asking price is reasonable if they want to sell this winter. If your price is a major factor in your home buying decision, now is the time to buy.

Sellers Are Motivated
The slow winter months are when sellers are more willing to negotiate, whether it is on selling price, closing costs, closing date or even terms of the sale. If someone is listing a house in the winter they know that fewer buyers are actively searching. If they still decide to list it that means they need to sell, therefore they are likely willing to take most offers in order to sell their house.
