Spring Selling – Decluttering and Staging in 5 Simple Steps
March 14, 2018 |
1.Organize. If you are getting ready to sell your home this spring and move, you’ll thank yourself later if you start the organizing process now. Dedicate 1 week to each room in your
house and sort through every item in that room. Move items that are out of place to their right places. Sort through seasonal items and store them together so they are easy to find later on.
2.Declutter – This goes hand in hand with organizing. As you are organizing each room and sorting through every item make a pile of all items that you want to get rid of. You will
feel the stress float away as you add items to that pile making it bigger and bigger. Take the items in good condition to a Goodwill store, the Salvation Army, or even try to sell them. All other junk items should be tossed away.
3.Clean – When you decide to put your home on the market this spring the process moves fast. That’s why you should start preparing now by cleaning up and getting rid of stuff (decluttering).
Weekly upkeep will help your home sparkle when it shows.
4.Depersonalize – Depersonalizing your home while its showing allows potential buyers to picture themselves in your home instead of feeling like they are intruding on your family
home. Take down kids’ artwork and family photos and put away old blankets from Grandma while people are having a look at your house.
5.Re-Arrange – The layout of your home may work for you but if it doesn’t seem logical for the general public it should be re-arranged. Keep your rooms organized and make sure they
have a notable purpose. Less is more when it comes to furniture and decorations in each room.
