Gary Keller, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of the Keller-Williams real estate dynasty, can teach us a lot about life through the some of his most famous quotes.
“More than anything else, expertise tracks with hours invested”.
Being good at anything requires investing your time into it. Being great requires even more. By consistently putting time into a hobby, work, sport, whatever it may be, you will get better at it. The hours add up and it shows in your results.
“Make sure every day you do what matters most. When you know what matters most, everything makes sense. When you don’t know what matters most, anything makes sense.”
When you have a clearly defined goal of what you want to do in your professional or at home life, your day to day actions should reflect that goal. When you have one end goal in mind, you know what matters most to get there and will incorporate taking
the steps to reach that goal in your everyday activities. Your goal gives you purpose and purpose directs your days.
“A life worth living might be measured in many ways, but the one way that stands above all others is living a life of no regrets.”
Take every moment some people would deem as a “regret” and turn it into a learning experience. You can’t take back those actions, so you might as well build off of them into your next experience.
“I cannot believe that the purpose of life is to be happy. I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, to be compassionate. It is, above all, to matter, to count, to stand for something, to have made some difference that you lived at all.”
By doing something every day that makes you feel useful, be responsible and to be compassionate, you will in turn find yourself being happy. Happiness comes from the feelings of being purposeful and have impacting others, but the goal should
not be to be happy, but instead to live a life of purpose and have an impact. At the end of the day, you will be happy with what you have done.
